WHAT IS HSK LEADERSHIP?

Great leaders embrace holistic, sustainable, and knowledge-based leadership to lead in full consciousness of self, others, nature and society.

Leaders are experiencing unprecedented pressures from their own organizations and external stakeholders to perform extraordinarily and speedily in a fast-changing political, economic, technological, and competitive world. A world that is also characterized as volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous.

A corollary of diverse demands and challenges on leaders is the increasing surge of leadership failures, inadequate leadership as well as lack of leadership. Ethical and moral misconduct exists among governments/politicians, corporates, and organizations. To restore the reputation and trust in leadership and organizations, executives need to better focus on 3 essentials of leadership orientation: holistic, sustainable and knowledge-based. These 3 essentials are crucial in changing the fundamental perspective of leadership to become authentic leadership.

A holistic approach implies that the parts of something are intimately integrated to become the whole. This would mean, for instance, to look at a leader as a “whole” and to consider the leader’s personal wellness in terms of physical, psychological (emotion), social and spiritual well-being. Likewise, organization is also be regarded the same way as a “whole”.

Sustainability indicates that something is upheld, bearable and defended, and “capable of being continued at a certain level”. John Elkington was one of the first people to integrate the 3 principles: economy, society, and the environment. These principles are also informally used as profit, people and planet.

Knowledge-based coaching is based on solid and extensive knowledge made up of theories and practices. It draws from a wide range of disciplines to serve the client’s requirements with greater focus and accuracy as and when appropriate. These may include concepts from leadership, psychology, philosophy, transformation management, as well as organizational culture and effectiveness.
